Wonderful suggestion.
Mint ...Yes, their own rooms! Wonderful suggestion.

Mint and rosemary both grow OUT, with lots of crazy runner roots. I read somewhere recently that if they didn't have such wonderful, flavorful properties, they would be considered weeds. Great.

And basil just really grows UP. It likes to match your height.Christinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11154692504751436022noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6805504101401683454.post-39946165990829997752009-04-28T08:17:00.000-05:002009-04-28T08:17:00.000-05:00I would love to have a pretty yard/garden, but I a...I would love to have a pretty yard/garden, but I always lose the willpower after a couple times of caring for it. Wanna come help? :)

I also love hostas for their ease and the pure fact that I haven't killed them yet! Our house came with a lot of them. I did divide them once, so that counts as work, right? We have some of the giant elephant ear ones, as well as the variegated ones.

I'm planting herbs today! But in planter boxes, to hopefully contain them. Hmmm, now I'm wondering if the basil and mint need to be in their own rooms?seussgirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04000177197075148901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6805504101401683454.post-13642569722984744472009-04-27T22:37:00.000-05:002009-04-27T22:37:00.000-05:00I love to garden too...and it can be a challenge h...I love to garden too...and it can be a challenge here in Oregon! All of her herb gardens (I think 7 or 8) had rocks. Come to think of it, weeding those gardens as punishment is probably why I don't like to garden now! I may take a drive by your house sometime to see all the pretty flowers!4cunninghamshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04199415002439439934noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6805504101401683454.post-36261922250549787132009-04-27T15:14:00.000-05:002009-04-27T15:14:00.000-05:00beautiful! But I do have many other perennials poking through also! All three clematis are coming up and so are my lilies and my phlox are blooming! I get excited, too.

One suggestion for shade is a bleeding heart bush. I had a huge one that was completely demolished when we had a huge oak taken down a few years ago (it was in the direct path of the fall), so I replaced it last year and it is well on its way! They are very hardy and the blooms are so old-fashioned and dainty ... and they really do look like little "bleeding hearts" ...I just love it!

I'm anxious to see all your landscaping a week from Friday!Laurienoreply@blogger.com
