Obligatory First-Day-of-School-Photos alert!
We do all we can to support the George Lucas estate at least once a day. Twice, if possible.
And I don't know who taught them to say "cheese," because all it produces is an unnatural, squinty-eyed grimace. I promise they do not normally smile like this.
I also promise I'm not feeling ill or nervous or even very sentimental. At all. Really, I'm mainly just super excited for them. This summer they have made it SO VERY APPARENT, through words and actions and just general craziness, that they are indeed completely ready for kindergarten. I anticipate some tears, some growing pains, some transition, some bad behavior at home as they work out just what is expected of them after a busy, fun-filled day at school. But they are ready, and they are in a wonderful, amazing school with a loving, veteran teacher who knows what it is to take care of a gaggle of little 5 year-olds.
They are, quite simply, right where they need to be.
Also, obligatory funny picture, captured between words and blinks:
And, as promised, the boys wearing their backpacks:
They are going to be fine. Just fine.
Now I have to go cradle a broken-hearted little sister who has just, in one fell swoop, lost her two best friends. Pre-school starts next week, and it can't come soon enough.
