The One Where I Am Allergic to Physics, Where Everyone Pukes, and Also Where I Travel to Nashville

Hi!

(waves)

My mom specifically requested that I post here, and she's right, I need to. I've kind of been putting it off because I have no new pictures, and really, how exciting is a post without pictures? I understand if you're already bored to tears.

So what have we been up to lately? Well, lots. The Professor is making the transition from academic year teaching to summer school teaching, as graduation at his university was two weekends ago. Our brother-in-law, My Sister the Goddess' husband, graduated, and we had family from both his side and our side come in to share in the celebration. Said brother-in-law came down with a stomach bug on the day of his graduation and then kindly shared it with everyone. My aunt and my grandmother, who were staying with us, both got it, but it hit my grandmother particularly hard--she had to go to the hospital for a little while to get back on her feet, and they ended up having to delay their return home for several days.

I was worried that the bug would prevent me from embarking on a long-awaited trip, but thankfully it didn't. Last Wednesday I left on a plane and flew to Nashville to visit my college roommate, Raechel, and her family. Rae and Ryan have just welcomed their newest addition, Hazel, and I had been planning on visiting for a while to do what I could to help out around the house. I cleaned, bathed kids, helped garden (and spent Ryan's hard-earned money on plants), did laundry, and just generally tried to make their transition a little easier. They, in turn, fed me well and gave me a nice break from my own wonderful family.

I should mention here that The Professor did a fabulous job as a single daddy, even dealing with each child throwing up (because apparently the stomach bug was a slow-moving one) at least once over the course of my absence, with C grommiting three times. I know, I know--I really lucked out, right? But I'm so proud of him for taking care of it and not ONCE calling me in a tizzy, asking me what to do with puke. I think that's reason enough to claim him as my husband.

I seriously had a great time with Raechel and Ryan, and I don't have any photos to prove it. I think we took one picture during my entire visit, and I don't have that one yet. No big deal. I promise, I was there, and I promise, it was truly a momcation.

I got back to Chicagoland Monday evening after enjoying a free white wine on the plane, which left me a little tipsy, which, in turn, made navigating Midway and claiming my luggage kind of a fun thing. In Chicago the temperature was at least 20 degrees cooler (I'm not bitter or anything) and my children were at least 300% cuter than when I left. (Yes, that's possible.) I've had a lot of fun marveling at how much they have changed in 5 days, because I assure you, they have. Baby C is long and lean and prone to fits of tantrum if she doesn't get her way, J is EXTREMELY articulate, and B is soft-spoken and very polite. He always says "yes, ma'am." I am so proud to call them mine.

That's basically my update. As I said, The Professor is now preparing to teach this summer. He just informed me that he is, in fact, teaching Physics III. I didn't know that this class was even possible. I will not be asking him about his teaching material, just for the record. I am allergic to physics.

And I haven't forgotten my guessing game--I just haven't taken pictures. Lay-zee.

So that's it for now. I hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful mid-May. If it's not February outside today, I'll try and get some nice, updated pictures of my kids, just to appease the masses (ie, the grandmothers.)

Much love!

Glad you had a good time in Nashville!

The Professor didn't even call home to solicit help from his mom either! What a guy!

My guess for your painted area is a solar lighting.

See you soon!
