Well, I had really hoped that Chapter 7 could be the last bathroom update, but that's not to be. You see, we're putting our last few purchases for the bathroom on hold. Last-last week's sink escapade ended up draining us of the final cash we had allotted for this project, and we just don't feel right dipping even more into our savings account when we could suck it up, be adults, and wait until the next paycheck, when we can budget out the remaining funds. This sucks, really, especially since I am a completer of tasks who feels edgy and irritable knowing that little details aren't done. But I am also an adult.
Right? Someone tell me I'm an adult before I pitch a fit and embarrass my husband.
Anyway, here's what left to purchase: trim, paint and other sundry supplies for said trim, supplies to strip and stain the door, and supplies to strip and stain the threshold. Really, that's it, and we're probably looking at under $100 in materials. In the meantime, we have little jobs to keep us busy, such as paint touch-ups, tile touch-ups, tiling the ceiling of the shower stall, and...really, that's it, I think. So while I'm not ready to pronounce this project "done," I am ready to look for the light at the end of the tunnel.
While we wait, I'll share a few glimpses of what has been done since the last update; namely, we've hung stuff on the walls.
A shelf near the shower, complete with framed newspaper:
Everett! Keep your panties on!
I will somehow incorporate the underarm pads!
My fantastically amazing Restoration Hardware towels, hanging underneath said shelf:
More fantastically wonderful towels, this time in hand towel-form:
And finally, the antique cabinet we hung over our toilet:
Yup, it's huge. But we only have one full bathroom in a household of five, so we need as much storage as humanly possible. And yup, those undersides aren't painted. But honestly, who lays down on the floor to check that out? Just me, takin' pictures. I'm not painting it.
So I hope this staves you off until such time as I can pronounce this whole thing done and done. Thanks for being so patient and supportive!
