With those terrible thoughts in mind, I've taken my family members' pictures and names off of the sidebar. I'm going to start referring to my children simply by the first initials of their first names. I haven neither the energy nor the will to create cutesy nicknames that adequately sum up my children's personalities. They are very young, and their personalities are still forming. Why be that parent of twins that forces expectations on her children at a young age? Plus I love my children's names, and I'd hate to pretend that they (their names) simply don't exist. I'm also going to be more vigilant about specific personal details. I've been careful in the past, but now I'm going to think twice and maybe three times before posting anything that could be in any way used against us.
This kind of sucks, right? My husband really wants me to go whole hog and make my blog entirely private and password-protected, which I'm not ready to do yet. I love making new-found friends through this medium, and I'd hate to limit the amount of people who can share in our fantastic adventures. (I say that tongue-in-cheek.) I'm not ruling out passwords for the future, but it's not an option I like a whole lot right now.
And you know, while I don't want to make up nicknames for my kids, I'm not above nicknaming my husband, whose personality is definitely set. So, how about The Professor? That sounds perfect.
Here's hoping your day is void of these grave matters and full of better things, like peanut butter sandwiches and matchbox cars.
(That's what's on our agenda, at least.)

Christine,
I have a suggestion about posting photos ... you could post on Picassa instad of your blog. Photos do not download nicely from your blog but they do from Picassa.
Just a suggestion!
Any photos I post to the blog automatically go to a Picassa "blog" album, but you're right, I have to shrink the image to get them to download quickly; thus, the poor pictures quality. I will keep this suggestion in mind--it's just that downloading to Picassa FIRST and then posting to the blog (as I would do) adds an extra, time-consuming step. Our slowish internet makes things difficult with full-strength pictures.
Thanks for suggesting! I know how you guys like the pics. :)
"The professor" sounds nice. :)
I, too, do the initial thing. However, I'm pretty sure people know my children's names. lol.
Totally understandable, but can I ask you what the not-so-fun circumstances are since I live very near you? You can email or facebook me if you are more comfortable! We aren't big "news" people here. I get the paper for the coupons. Now I'm a little worried.
For what it's worth, I don't post much on my blogger, but I have another blog that is completely private and the only people who have access to my entries are those I choose. That is partly for safety and partly because it's an outlet for me that I don't want all people seeing! I even made my pictures on facebook friends only. It's a sad world when you can't share some of this stuff without having to make it private. =(
Oh, are you still up for a 2am call if we have to go to the hospital anytime soon? Due date is quickly approaching, but just want to get all my ducks in a row! You know how it is to prepare for a new baby with two toddlers!
Hi, I'm one of those random people who read your blog.. Actually I was floormates with your sister in law freshman year at ONU. I love reading this blog!! I read another where the author posts photos of her children, but every photo has their faces covered or it's a photo of their back. It sounds weird, but the photos are still cute! Just a thought I guess.
Hey...totally understand wanting to protect your children...
You'll notice my blog doesn't have my name attached to it anywhere. I don't like the idea of my high schoolers ""googling my name and finding my personal blog...ah the joys of being a high school teacher...
