Signs of Autumn

It's been a pretty wet October, with infrequent patches of sun that send us all shrieking with delight and pelting outdoors to enjoy the fleeting warmth. Right now we're in the middle of cold rain, so I thought it would be fitting to reminisce and share some pictures from last week, when we enjoyed a few days of glorious sunshine.

Jack is such a helper.
(That's a rake in his hands.)

It is still really difficult to get them to
"pose" for photos. I end up resorting
to idle threats to get them still.

And finally, the pumpkin carving.

I wanted Jack from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Joey, our brother-in-law and artist-in-residence, drew his face on the pumpkin. We had completely misjudged the amount of interest our children would show in this venture (read: none whatsoever), so poor Stephen ended up doing it all himself. He did a great job and deserves many hearty congratulations.

So...boo!

We haven't had a chance to light it up because it's been raining! Today's shaping up to be rain-free, so we'll see if I can fulfill that duty tonight.

I can't believe how big the kids are getting. Charlotte looks just like you in that picture of her sitting in the leaves. I can definitely see the Becker side in her. Hope you all have a wonderful Halloween. Are you taking them out this year and if so, what are they going to be?
