Growing Things

When we aren't busy growing babies, we here at the Case casa like to grow other helpful things.

Namely, vegetables.

And fruit, since Stephen is quick to point out that tomatoes and peppers are fruit.

As you can see, we don't take a lot of time to weed. We have better things to do, like laundry, house repairs, reading, and drawing on the sidewalks with chalk.

This little guy aspires to be a full-grown cucumber some day. Perhaps he'll star in his own video series. Perhaps he'll simply be pickled. The future is an open door right now.

And despite our best efforts, clearly someone else has discovered our magnificent bounty.

These peppers look a little better.

You should know that this garden is all Steve's baby, and I am so proud of him for it. He started small this year, with four short rows featuring three varieties of tomatoes, some cucumbers, pole beans, green peppers, banana peppers, sunflowers, and something else on the end that I can't think of. We're just now harvesting tomatoes and peppers, and we are eagerly awaiting the ripening of our beans.

It's fun to grow your own food, eat your own food, and beat the system in the process.

And as a fun closer, I want you to take a good look at the following image:

Now tell me what you think it could be, why I posted it, and just what in the heck it all means.

Here's a hint. And here's another one.

Ready, steady, go!

My guess: something to do with a dark red china cabinet.

I'm proud of Stephen and his garden, too! I hope to get to taste some of the bounty this weekend.

I'll refrain from guessing since you told me what it was at moms group on Monday. =)

Yay for the garden! I might do that someday.
