I want to share with you something fantastic and wonderful that might actually seem yucky and puke-inducing to you, depending on your personal taste.
Ready?
Okay. (deep breath) Here goes.
A chair! That someone was going to throw out! It's green and low and perfect!
Or at least, I think it's perfect.
I found this baby in the back of a pick-up truck, strapped to a bunch of scrap wood, and the owner of said truck was so happy to have us take it. She produced a missing leg (just needed some glue) and that awesome matching ottoman, without which this chair would seem lonely, I'm sure. I wasn't 100% sure about the color (think olive/gold/hmmm...), but it seems to work in my home, where I love the golds and the greens and the hmmmm's. It had better work, because getting it professionally reupholstered is out of the question budget-wise. So until I learn how to reupholster on my own, green it will stay.
It's definitely a forerunner of today's ever-popular slipper chair. Steve said that he wishes he could have been there with the original purchasers, just to hear the wife saying, "Oh, I just have to have that chair. And it must be in this fabric, this color. It's divine."
And I would have to agree with her.
The only quick-fix I might see myself doing soon is staining the legs a darker brown, as the current color is just slightly dated. Oh, heck. The whole ensemble is dated! And when you live in a house that exudes old lady at every corner, then you know your chair has found its home.
Tell me what you think! You can hate on it, that's okay. I'm impervious to your hate. My chair rocks, and I know it.
And the cat thinks it rocks, too, just for the record. It's his new #1 Favorite Spot.

I love it! It's so unique! What a great find, Christine. So, how did you rearrange your furniture to make it fit? What happened to your coffee table? Where is your piano now that the china cabinet is there? Is that a new storage ottoman in front of the love seat? Is that even your love seat? I must know these things.
It's great! It makes me so excited to post photos of the now two chairs that have been reupholstered in the Myers/Faires circle. (I have to get the photos from Rebecca's camera...)
Anyway, I say Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!!!!!
Janie: Okay, here goes: The coffee table, deemed too large for the living room, got moved downstairs. I'll hang onto it until I have a room that's up to its demands. The goldish chair is in the corner (where the TV used to be), the couch is against the big wall (under the kids' pictures), the love seat is at an angle against (mainly) the north wall of the house, underneath the bookshelves your dad made, and the green chair is closest to the front door, with the side table in between it and the love seat.
The piano is now in the sunroom--we just moved it yesterday to make room for the china cabinet, which is where it (the piano) used to be, in the dining room. Oh, and yes, that's a new storage ottoman. We still needed something to a) store the kids' books, and b) have for our feet, drinks, etc., so I found that on clearance at Target a couple months back. Whew.
Rae: Did you guys do the upholstery?? If so, any tips?? Was one of the chairs the one Rebecca was showing us at her house? I was standing next to it in their living room. As I remember, it was a chair with good bones and much promise. I like those kinds of chairs.
And I need to share that it does my heart good to hear my 2 pro designers both give me the A-OK (enthusiastically, at that) on the chair. Hurrah!
I think it's kinda cool. If it would make you feel better, I'll blog about my burnt orange rocker in my living room! I have a chair cover on it, but you can still occasionally see the orange. My parents bought it when I was born.
I love it. My husband would be looking at me like I lost my mind. And then trying to throw it out on the next big trash day.
