Today we played with sidewalk chalk.
They wanted me to write letters and draw the "moon," which is really the sun, except they think they are one and the same.
Charlotte, oblivious to the complexity that is Our Solar System, played quietly on her blanket in the shade, eating grass clippings when her mom wasn't looking.
(Courtney, the quilts you made the boys work perfectly for sitting outside!)
By the time this was all said and done, their butts were covered in chalk.
Now here is my dilemma: The youngest of my boys (by about 30 seconds), Baylor, is a serious, solemn child who works very slowly and deliberately. (Well, as slowly and deliberately as a 2-year-old can be.) Therefore, I get lots of great shots of his sweet, sensitive face.
Exhibit A:
Exhibit B:
Oh, sweet mercy, he makes me melt.
His brother, on the other hand, never stops moving. Never. Jack is constantly running, tumbling, dancing, jumping, and/or spinning. Often all at once. He never wears out, and he never sits quietly on the porch steps so that his mother can capture his sweet nature in photographic form. The following is the clearest shot of Jack I got all afternoon:
His hat was in the way.
And the following represent a sampling of the rest of Jack's photo mishaps:
Oh, almost! At least his head was clear!
We're getting closer...
And... he's gone.
At least Charlotte enjoyed eating weeds.
My greatest wish is to capture that perfect shot of Jack before the summer is through. Hopefully we'll have plenty of sunshiney opportunity for just that.

Sidewalk chalk is the perfect thing for busy toddlers. We have a big box we got from walmart and both our kids LOVE it! Glad you enjoyed your day outside yesterday since today is stormy!
He's like the Loch Ness monster!
It's so neat how your boys are so different. And Charlotte is of course an absolute doll. Makes me want little people of my own! :)
