Today I hopped on the bike for a little bit.
Pretty neat, huh? It's a vintage red Schwinn, made in Chicago, and in pretty great shape. We can't find a stamp telling when it was made, but I assure you, this baby is old.
The metal basket (which delights me to no end) is, of course, a modern add-on. Stephen had the bike, complete with two containers of daisies in said basket, waiting for me outside on the sidewalk on Mother's Day. It was a charming picture. I wish I had taken an actual picture. But here's the bike. The daisies are in a planter hanging on my front door.
See?? Did you see that?? I CAN ride a bike! Turns out it's not so difficult, even for one such as I am who hasn't ridden one in a few years. The brakes are a little sticky and the seat likes to misbehave, but it's lovely and rideable and red and all mine.
Here I am with my two favorite (red) modes of transportation:
Now we're on the hunt for child seats and kid trailers. The whole family needs to experience the joy of riding the Schwinn.
(Note: Please forgive me my lax blogging of late. I've been remiss the last couple weeks, I realize. But currently all of the Cases are very sick with nasty colds. Believe me when I say that I think that tonight my head might very well explode. Stephen doesn't have a voice anymore, and Jack and Baylor think cold medicine is candy at this point. I promise that once we are up and running and I have room in my head for anything besides snot, I'll provide you with endless hours of mindless drivel, just as you've come to expect. I hate to disappoint my fans.)

i like your blog. the pictures you uploaded. will come again~!
Sweet! :) It gives me hope that I probably won't kill myself if I try to ride a bike again!
I saw a man riding his bike with a kid trailer behind. I looked to see what cute bundle of joy might be in there and was greeted by a bulldog, tongue dangling and all. hahaha!
I hope you all feel better soon! My boys got so used to meds their first year (Reglan and prilosec) that now when one of them is sick, the other one whines when they don't get medicine!
keep us posted on the bike trailer - I'm interested to know what's good to use! (And sad I have to go another summer without riding!)
