I'm sure Jesus just smiles on the whole operation.
Anyway, Stephen thought many of these blogs sounded brilliant, and he suggested I put together a post linking them so that anyone else with just hours of time to kill could check them out. I think that's a good idea. In case you haven't figured it out, that's exactly what I'm going to do with this post.
See, you are smart! Obviously you are not the butt of the internet's jokes.
(If you've known about these sites for ages and are rolling your eyes at my tardiness, please just keep your mouth shut. I'm a little late on the scene, I realize. And please keep in mind that I am not screening these sites for subject matter. The Interweb, it can cross the line. Use your own discretion.)
I should give credit where credit is due and let you know that you can find many of these sites on Passive Aggressive Notes' blogroll. Oh, I've already started. I'm so ahead of myself.
Blogs Where Smart People Make Fun of Dumb People
- Passive Aggressive Notes: You know that note your "helpful" roommate left "suggesting" you clean out the fridge? Or maybe that letter your mom sent that subtly berated your decision to stay home at Christmas? Yeah, you can send those to PAN and become an internet sensation. Or even an internet mockery. The PAN community members (ie, people who leave the comments) are ruthless. I've considered joining the PAN community and leaving comments, but I'm afraid of everyone else. They are very smart. And scathing. And they would probably strip me of my self-esteem and leave me huddled in a corner, rocking myself and pulling out my own hair.
- Wordsplosion: Wordsplosion's subtitle is "Showcasing the best of the worst of the wide world of words." Basically, if you post a sign of any type and make any glaring (or even not-so-glaring, at least not to the general public) error, you will find that sign showcased here. I love it. This site covers every mechanics problem known to man. It is near and dear to this grammarian's heart.
- Apostrophe Abuse: Pretty self-explanatory. Much more specialized than Wordsplosion, and therefore often preachy. Or boring. However you want to look at it. But still. People. The apostrophes. (Or should I say "apostrophe's"?) And if there is a blog that makes fun of flagrant sentence fragment abuse, feel free to submit me.
- In that same vein, there's also The "Blog" of "Unnecessary" Quotation Marks: I like this one a lot. The author is very sarcastic. Again, people. Just think.
- Oh, how could I omit Stuff White People Like? This just makes me laugh at my whiteness time and time again.
- You Suck at Craigslist: Those of us who peruse the Craigslist postings with any frequency understand the targets of this website. There are some things that just should never be posted, even in the personal ads. And there are some people (likely the same people whose work is being showcased at Wordsplosion and the like) who type up postings without any semblance of coherence, taste, or a basic grasp of the English language and its mechanics. This blog frequently makes me LOL. And that is the first time I have ever typed "LOL." It's that serious.
- It's Lovely! I'll Take It!: Have you ever been bewildered at the state of a house that is on the market? Perhaps the owners simply lived in filth and left it wretched, or maybe their decorating tastes leave you scratching your head in wonder--or perhaps running in terror. This blog showcases pictures from real estate listings that make you question the seller's/realtor's sanity and/or common sense. Why would you feature the pink-tiled bathroom with the many-drawered plastic filing cabinets crowding the commode? How could that possibly help the sale? I like this because I've seen these houses. We once toured a downer whose previous tenants had ripped up the water heater and taken it with them. The water heater.
- Photo Clichés: This is pretty self-explanatory, too. Its caption: "Collecting pictures of people being uniquely hilarious, just like all the other people who took the same photo."
- This site makes fun of people who get all lovey-dovey about their spouses via their Facebook status updates. Really, when you get down to it, waxing eloquent about your significant other using your status update is kind of funny, especially if you're a repeat offender. (The operator of this blog is a little jaded. Not always family-friendly.)
- Cakewrecks: Generally, I like cake. But I don't like cakes made by people who have no sense of good design, grammar, or taste. Cakes made by said people can only be disastrous. So let's turn them into a blog!
- There are more, lots and lots more, but I'll end with Asleep On the Subway: Documenting, using photographic evidence, the hapless people who allow themselves to, you guessed it, fall asleep on the subway. Very cute.
I hope you are able to spend some critical hours working through this list. And if you have any suggestions of blogs I should visit that follow this same vein of thought, please let me know. "I" would be "more" then happy to check these thing's out for you. Your wellcom.

Oh my! A friend of mine and her husband are obsessed with the Cakewrecks blog!
But seriously, how do you even find time to read these!?!?! I'm amazed!
I did NOT need help procrastinating tonight. But who can resist these hilarious blogs? Thanks for sharing! =)
I found my old favorite: http://marmadukeexplained.blogspot.com/ Not appropriate for all ages, so use caution.
