It's My Party, I Can Cry Wear Tie-Dye If I Want To

Because I have no powers of restraint when it comes to narrowing down my picture options, I present to you a post with 15 photos. And because I am the sole operator and owner (so to speak) of this blog, I can start my sentences with "and" and start my sentence fragments with "because."

Nya-nya-nya-nya-boo-boo.

Thus follows a veritable picture montage depicting the boys' 2nd birthday party from Sunday evening. We celebrated at my parents' house, and while Jack and Baylor really had no earthly idea why we were making such a big to-do, they sure enjoyed the balloons, cupcakes, and presents. To top it off, they were wearing matching tie-dyed t-shirts (which means I'm having trouble telling who's who in some of these pictures) and got to play for a long time outside in the beautiful weather. What a great birthday.

If you'll remember, Jack miraculously said "Elmo"
the other day. He is their hero.

Baylor and his Gamma.

Jack wasn't so big on the elastic bands
on the hats, so I'm surprised we got this shot.

It's important that I include this next picture.
You need to know I have a wild and crazy side.
And that side, of course, features Elmo.

Even Charlotte got in on the hat action.
That's not her arm, by the way.
It's her uncle's.

Katie, the boys' biggest fan outside the family,
joined us and seemed genuinely thrilled
to devote her Sunday evening to a birthday party
for two 2-year olds. What a cool gal.
Also, I really appreciate Steve's enthusiasm.

They think fire is cool.

Baylor didn't waste much time.

Jack quickly caught on, too.

I like this balloon.
I like the superimposed party hats.

I'll close with Charlotte modeling a present she received.
Her (Great) Aunt Connie didn't want her feeling left out.

Just so you know, while terribly fun and exciting, this party wore me out. I'm so glad birthdays only come once a year. And I kept reminding myself that I should really appreciate and savor this one, as we'll never again be able to get away with discussing the boys' birthday plans and gifts directly in front of them while they remain clueless. Sigh.

I just can't believe they're two - and that they're yours! I can't believe the squirrly, adorable Christine Becker I met at Freshman orientation, with whom I shared an apartment in college and got matching "underoos" with (I know, the grammar isn't awesome there) belongs to these two handsome, red-headed, two-year-old boys! Oh, Stine. They're growing up! And, they're just wonderful.

Congrats to you and Steve on keeping them fed and clothed and relatively unscathed for two years running! Sometimes every day feels like you deserve a certificate of some sort, two years should certainly merit a trophy!

Happy Birthday, Jack-a-Bayer!
