Everything in My House Smells Like Peanut Butter

It's true, it all smells like peanut butter. I smell like peanut butter. The drooly Little People horse that Baylor just dropped directly from his mouth onto my lap smells like peanut butter. The plastic link that Jack just hooked onto my ear smells like peanut butter.

I am so sick of Jif.

And why is it that the boys are perfectly content to play and entertain themselves while I am completing chores, say, doing the dishes, but as soon as I try to sneak in a quick blog entry, they are suddenly dependent on me for everything?

Sigh.

I love my kids, I really do. They're a lot of fun, to say the very least. But they're also a lot of work. Never undertake the adventure of parenting with any ounce of flippancy. You'll be in for a shocker if you do.

You may notice a new button there to the right on my sidebar. If you click on that image, you'll be directed right to MckMama's blog. You've heard me mention MckMama before--she started Not Me! Monday, and I follow her blog, as you can see from my blog roll a little farther down on the right. Long story short, her precious baby boy, Stellan, is having some serious heart trouble, trouble that he experienced in the womb and from which they thought he was completely healed when he was born. His little body is sick, things are uncertain, and he and his family need to be continually bathed in prayer. Visit her blog to not only get updated blog and Twitter entries, but also to read Stellan's story. I can't imagine the heartache and confusion his family must be experiencing, but I am inspired by his mother's constant reliance on and glorification of God.

In Case news, this evening Stephen and three friends (Well, does our brother-in-law count as a friend? I mean, we didn't really have a choice with him...) are traveling about an hour away to retrieve the boys' birthday present from their parents:

No, we didn't purchase them the house in the background of that picture. They are getting the wooden swing set! This is something I've been wanting for them for awhile, and my goal was to have one by this spring. We've been scanning Craigslist, since brand-new ones are nowhere near affordable (If I went to Lowe's and wanted just the fort portion, I would pay about $600. I'm not joking.), and we scored big with this particular one. Suffice to say, we paid the equivalent of roughly what you would pay for a brand-new slide in the store. A slide.

We don't believe in going into debt for a swing set.

And I don't think Jack and Baylor would be too terribly impressed with simply a slide, no matter how out-of-the-package it is.

Hopefully they'll be impressed with this, as it means four adults have to give up their evening just to retrieve the sucker, and at some point in the near future their dad is going to have to give up a significant portion of a day to put it back together in our yard. The best part is that the fort includes a telescope, which just thrills me to no end. My astronomer husband seems less impressed than you would think, but you can never tell with him.

I'll bet he's just dying of pride inside.

This is so exciting! These boys are going to LIVE out there! I'm so glad you have a fenced yard. Yay for a very happy birthday treat!

Oh, no, we don't have a fenced yard. That's not our yard in the picture--that's the pic the lady who sold it took. It's sitting in pieces in our garage at the moment. We have a goal of fencing in the yard this summer, because yes, that will be necessary.

Well, I knew that wasn't your house or your yard - I'd caught that much. But for some reason I was totally remembering a fence in your back yard. My mistake! I definitely wasn't taking time to look around and enjoy the scenery when I was there in January. Anything outside is sort of a blur! :)

Looks like a great purchase! A big seller for our house was the playground/ park directly across the street. I don't know what I'd do without it in the summer. Those play sets can certainly cost an arm and a leg, so I'm glad you got one you could afford!

Yea!!! Does it have a built in sandbox under the slides? Or is that a possibility? (I know sand is disastrously messy, but the boys would love it!)
