Pizza and Poop and Everything Else

I have this desire to write a new post, but I don't really have a plan formulated yet, a concrete idea about the topic of said post.

How about some random facts about our week that you may not know just from reading the blog?

First, I am reading through the vampire love saga again. I KNOW I KNOW. Just don't judge. I'll move on eventually.

Second, I bought the soundtrack to the Twilight movie with the remaining $11 from my birthday money. It's really good, y'all. And I did NOT just buy it because it had the word "Twilight" on it. I promise! The music is fantastic. (This is not the original score, which I personally thought was pretty pathetic.) In case you're wondering about buying it for yourself, go the iTunes route. It's the cheapest and you get 2 or 3 (can't remember which) bonus tracks that are definitely not on the CDs in stores.

Also, I have officially declared CDs obsolete. I should send out a royal edict or something.

Fourth, check this out:

A couple weeks ago The Nester called her readers' attention to Fruitful Vine Creations, a vinyl lettering business run by a mom. I had some birthday money, so I asked Tonya to make me some lettering featuring the last two lines of "Be Thou My Vision," the hymn that we sang at our wedding as a congregation. (Well, the congregation sang. Stephen and I hadn't thought to bring the programs on stage with us, so we just mumbled along with the words we remembered.) Steve almost lost his salvation putting this sucker up--a few of the letters didn't want to transfer correctly, no matter how much he burnished them. If it weren't for his perseverance, "whatever" would have read "watever," and the period would have been lost. As it is, Stephen thinks it's hilarious that we actually have the word"whatever" on our wall.

And yes, that is a photograph of Robert E. Lee you see peeking out from on top of that back bookshelf. He is an important man.

In addition, Jack pooped in the bathtub last night. I put them in the tub, complete with bubblebath, and I left them alone for a couple minutes so I could run upstairs and get their pajamas. I came back and was immediately suspicious of the funny crouch Jack was in. Plus he and Baylor were very still, watching the water intently. It took me a minute to figure out the problem, as the offending, um, matter was hidden by the bubbles.

So. Very. Gross.

And finally, my kids are driving me absolutely insane. I really have no good excuse. I chose to have them, I chose to have them this close together, and I like to be smug when other moms are pulling their hair out. But I think I'm just at the end of my rope, being sick and sore and tired and cranky. Plus everyone is going stir crazy. Our house is little, the children are many, and the weather is iffy. PLUS Charlotte is most definitely teething, making her the #1 Most Unpleasant Baby in the History of Babies.

Seriously, I can see teeth on the top and bottom, just under the surface. The boys didn't get teeth until they were, what, like 10 months old?? I will not be surprised if she starts speaking before they do.

Almost finally, tomorrow is Friday, and I am elated about our Chicago trip. I'll remember to take the camera so y'all can live vicariously through our artsy experience.

Finally finally, I'm also elated about my cousin Zachary's visit this weekend. I haven't seen Zach in awhile, and I'm just jazzed. He and I are just 10 (I think) days apart, and we're good buddies. People were always thinking that he and I were the next "thing," which presented us with many awkward and funny conversations when we had to set people straight. It probably didn't help that we liked to take each other on "dates" to fun restaurants, like our co-favorite place EVER, Jack Stack. No Jack Stack here, but maybe we can get some deep dish pizza in Chi-town.

My favorite Chicago pizza goint? Gino's. It's dirty, it's grotty, and I'll never use their bathroom or peek in their kitchen, but man-alive, do they know pizza.

And now I'm just rambling, so I'll stop. Bye for now.

I, too, have the vinyl lettering on my living room wall - Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God."

Billy and I hung it more than a month ago and I'm still trying to fulfill my penance. I'll put in a good word for Stephen.

Thanks for you comment. I'm going to check cars.com. We found another one up in Villa Park that we are hoping to hear from today sometime to see if we can drive it Saturday, so we'll see.

I love the letters. Do you know if they come off easily? I ask because we rent, and I'd love something like that, but it has to be removable. I suppose we could just stencil pretty letters with paint since we DO have permission to paint. Maybe we'll own a house...someday.

Oh yeah, I meant to ask where is Ginos? I've looked for it when up there, and I can never remember where it is, so we usually get Giordano's if we want pizza.

Um, can we talk about your cute new blog header!?! I really like it! When did this happen???

(I can imagine that you and my sister feel similarly about my multiple punctuation usage. She also hates all the ellipses I use... sorry, girls!!)

:)

Anyway, great new header! And, have a lovely time at the Art Institute! Oh, and don't think I didn't get your 10,000th hit email. I did - great work, #1 fan!

Blog header was created yesterday in the time I should have been washing laundry. I put it up last night.

(And I love excessive use of parentheses.)

(But not exclamation points. I am with Rebecca on that one.)

I'm definitely a blog stalker, but had to come out of hiding for a moment.

Here's an article I just read that makes me hope CDs never become obsolete. Some people, it seems, enjoy used record stores as much as I enjoy used book stores. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/thelife/news/story?id=3895285

Plus, the author is from KC. So maybe he has been to JackStack.

See how nicely it all ties together?

Do tell me what you did to convince them to come down that low on your van!

Katie, you coming out of the closet (so to speak) made my day. Loved the article! I love the used records and CDs as much as the next guy, but I'm still not going to be buying new music on CDs any time soon. We have a huge box of CDs in our basement that are just taking up space--they're already on our computer!

Jack Stack definitely rocks.

I seriously just spit a little pop onto the desk reading about the poop in the tub. I've been there... don't ever want to go back!

Being a KC native I just have to say that SmokeStack is the greatest place ever! (I'm still in denial about them changing their name to JackStack!) But oh man, BEST BBQ EVER!

And LOVE the new header!
