That's what I just exclaimed a moment ago from the couch, where I am squinched at the end with Steve's legs and the computer on my lap. You may wonder why Stephen is at home on a Tuesday, specifically on the Tuesday that he is scheduled to give his final exam. Well, I'll tell you.
Steve caught the bug.
All day yesterday I thought he was going to die and go to heaven and I would be left a single mom with three kids and a mortgage and an expired teaching license. Okay, I didn't allow myself to get that morbid, but it was pretty bad. We have discussed it before, and we are firmly convinced that, for whatever reason, Stephen gets double-whammy-walloped every time he catches some sort of stomach virus. We're talking as sick as you can get, times 300. Really, it's bad. Suffice to say, he is so very thankful that today he can keep down 7Up and lay on the couch peacefully without terrible, terrible pains throughout his poor, broken body.
Poor baby.
Thankfully my mom had a day off yesterday and was able to help corral the kids, two of whom were still sick little puppies. I think Baylor and Jack took about three naps during the day, and finally at the end of the day they were both able to tolerate a little broth, some saltines, and some applesauce. Today they seem well on their way to full recoveries, despite still being a little achy and a little cranky.
Charlotte and I are faring well and hope to escape the scourge. And I am taking eye drops and have thrown out all of my eye makeup in an attempt to rid our house of the Stink Eye (our friendly term for conjunctivitis.)
Also, to get into the holiday spirit, I am wearing an ugly Christmas sweatshirt on loan from my mother, who I hope will never wear it ever again in public. Tonight we're celebrating Christmas with my family, and I had suggested we all wrangle up some ugly Christmas sweaters for the occasion. The Case Pukefest 2008 sort of derailed those plans for me (who can visit the thrift store at a time like this?), and so my mom generously lent Stephen and me two of her ugly sweatshirts. Mine is green with hot pink poinsettias, and Steve's is black with cheerful country-themed snowmen. How delightful!
And so I hope that this is the last post for awhile where I have to detail our health shortcomings. Here's to wellness!

I know everyone is sick and everything, but I really hope you take pics of those sweaters. Ugly Christmas sweaters are the BEST!!
okay, I'm dying for photos of the ugly Christmas gear!!
I'm really praying that you don't get that flu because the house cannot function when mom is down!
I hope Stephen feels better soon, and pray that with his getting better, the neverending sicknesses find an end!
On a side note, if you enjoyed Twilight, whether or not you like vampire love stories in particular, there's Vampire Knight, a rather entertaining anime. It is subtitled, and I personally think animes are best left in their native language. I'm not a fan of anime though, for the record!

Just in case you get bored, or Stephen wants to hear more of the japanese language in his downtime.
You can all see how my instinct for survival kicks in . . . What do you do when all your kids are sick out of all orifices? Stay strong and help clean it all up? Or get EVEN SICKER so you can lie in bed and moan until the danger is passed? I think you can figure out what the smart guy in this situation chooses.
