The Glamorous Life

Steve and I took all three kids to the doctor today, and while it wasn't actually the first time all five of us have been there together, it was the first time all three kids have actually needed to be examined at the same time. I think we were crowded into the smallest possible exam room, but somehow we managed. The stats are in:

  • Baylor and Charlotte (and I) have eye infections and need prescription eye drops
  • Baylor and Jack have colds that are turning into infections; they both need antibiotics
  • Charlotte has a lingering cold that the doctor is treating with a mild medication, but we have to watch her, as her ears are looking mighty questionable, as in "infection"
I was remarkably impressed with this particular doctor. She was the last of the four doctors at this practice I had yet to see, and besides referring to Baylor as "she" at first, she did a great job keeping up with our various symptoms and timetables. She also congratulated us on handling three kids so levelheadedly, and she singled out Stephen in particular as being an excellent helper. Which he is.

Then we stopped off at Walgreens, where I dropped off the FOUR PRESCRIPTIONS and picked up saline nose spray and cough medicine. After leaving Stephen at school for the day, we stopped by Wendy's for chicken nuggets and made our way home. The boys are now fitfully sleeping, coughing every few minutes, and I am trying to convince Charlotte that she needs a nap, too, so that her Mama can get some rest.

The glamorous life we lead, my friends.

I'm not sure if I have the heart to pursue some more potty training this afternoon. I may just put it on hold until we are all feeling better. For now I have to conserve my energy for wiping faucet-like noses, silencing coughing jags, and maybe, just maybe, getting myself better, too.

And so I will close with just one fun item. Go here to read a funny piece on the phenomenon that is Twilight. If you aren't a fan, this is specifically written just for you, and you will laugh, I promise. If you are a fan, this should be required reading material, because we are ridiculous, and we need to know the limits of our obsession.

(I'm still in love with Edward, though.)

Oh, I am so sorry that you all are sick! You have my utter and complete pity! I wish we were closer so I could help wipe some noses! (Any interest in assembling our broods in 2009?)

We are all sick here too! Nash is on his 4th antibiotic for his ears and on his 4th cold in 5 weeks! Kai just likes to bond with his baby brother by catching whatever Nash gets or sharing it with his brother. Glad you survived the doctor!

You should tell everyone in the blog-o-sphere that we swore off church nurseries until spring. And also that our doctor used to be the door-keeper for the nursery and would send kids home if they were sick.
