Some thoughts from my day...
- Our day started out pretty exciting: The tree service crew from the City of Kankakee showed up at our door at 6:50 AM to trim many, many limbs and branches from our very large and slightly scary (limb-wise) elm tree in the front. This happened only after Stephen had been calling them regularly to remind them for five weeks straight.
- They did a very good job, and I felt too nerdy to take a picture of them sawing limbs with their big truck.
- I was momentarily startled and offended when the young, male drive-thru cashier at Wendy's greeted me with, "That'll be $2.10, sweetheart." Then I decided that it took too much energy to be offended and that I should just be flattered. He doesn't have to know that I have three kids under the age of 2, one of whom I breastfeed nearly every hour. (Nursing is definitely a turn-on for the young guys, let me tell you.)
- I was definitely offended to find out that Wendy's $.99 chicken nuggets now only have four pieces instead of five.
- When I asked my husband if I was a huge nerd to have always wanted to visit Colonial Williamsburg, he very emphatically nodded his head.
- Stephen was even more emphatic in his objections to my suggestion that we start listening to Christmas music. I actually witnessed him jumping in his chair when I told him I had been hankerin' to hear Dean's classic version of "Let It Snow."
- Who or what is the "it" doing the snowing? What a strange, passive language we speak.
- Today I finally managed to finish cleaning my house. Hurrah for no more dust bunnies!
- We had Pastor Heck over for coffee this afternoon to discuss Charlotte's baptism. Hurrah for sacraments!
- Pastor Heck definitely understood my desire to have her baptized sooner rather than later because of the all-important concern of her growing out of her baptism dress.
- When Stephen came home around noon today, Cassidy slipped through his legs and bolted out the back door. Long story short, we had to bail her out of doggie jail for $105. I am surprised my husband even posted bail. (He did admit asking the lady how much it would cost to have her put down. She acted shocked and never did give him a definite answer.)
- Today I found the orange pacifier, which has been missing for weeks now, slipped into the cushion of one of the club chairs. Small victories...
- Our Sunday School class is providing meals for us this week. I am so thankful for great people who want to take care of their fellow churchgoers.
- I'll close now with a colicky baby momentarily lulled to sleep in my lap.
