Compare and Contrast

Ways in Which Charlotte is Different From Jack and Baylor:

  • Charlotte does not tolerate a pacifier; therefore, when she is hungry, she is hungry now.
  • Her hair is much more manageable than their mops of ratty curls.
  • Little girls have so many more creases than little boys!
  • While her brothers took three months to reach the 8 lb. mark, at three weeks she is already almost 9 lbs. and has officially outgrown newborn-sized diapers.
  • She definitely has colic. (I am so thankful that I did not have twins with colic the first time around.)
  • Charlotte's feet are ginormous. She never fit into the delightful blue booties that her Aunt Janie so lovingly knit for her; in contrast, as babies the boys took so long to grow that they often never wore things people bought for them because the clothing was out-of-season before it was their size.
  • She is already grinning back at me some. I didn't receive smiles from the boys until they were over three months old--they were such little slugs, I swear.
  • She doesn't stink nearly as much as they do.
  • On the other hand, her diapers are much more explosive than theirs. (I should interject here that I figured up that we go through approximately 35-40 diapers a day.)
  • When she pees out of surprise during a diaper change, it just puddles, instead of shooting up and into my mouth or onto my dry clean-only curtains.
  • We never had to use the extra leg support fasteners on the Baby Bjorn carrier with her because she is such a great, healthy size. Baylor and Jack used those fasteners for a long, long time.
  • She does not like a bottle--the boys used bottles in the NICU from Day 1.
  • She is my sweet baby girl!

Aww I enjoyed this list! But oh my, I'm with Raechel! 40 diapers!?!?!? That's crazy...she's an expensive little one isn't she! Up until now the most I'd ever heard of anyone going through in a day is 12!

Elijah never took a bottle, and still won't and he's almost a year old. Makes it hard to go out alone without some careful planning, but once he got to solids it make it a little easier.

I can sort of understand the diapers. We have two in them, and when Elijah was tiny, it was crazy having that many, but they go a little less often and need less changings now. This too shall pass!
