She'll Be Comin'...

Today I had my 39 week appointment (due date is this Friday, the 29th) and expressed to my doctor my desire to have this baby before Sept. 1, when things get sticky as far as age and school enrollment are concerned. He was very understanding and immediately called the hospital to schedule me for a 7:30 AM Friday induction, when he will be on call next. This won't be a typical induction--instead of being given lots of drugs, I'll have my water broken (with maybe just a smidge of oxytocin) and we'll see what happens from there. He is cautious because I am a previous C-section attempting a vaginal birth, and I guess the whole pump-you-full-of-drugs thing can be an issue for someone in my position. If things don't progress quickly enough, I will have to have another C-section, which, while not preferred, is perfectly okay. I am dilated almost 4 centimeters and am 70% effaced, so he was skeptical that I'll even make it to Friday, but it's nice to know he's in my corner!

Sorry for the gory details, but I know some parties are interested for just such information. I for one am on Cloud 9 just thinking of having this baby this week. Yay for inductions!
