Kite Festival and Big Boys

This weekend Perry Farm hosted its annual Kite Festival. Amateurs and professionals alike can bring their kites (ranging from K-Mart quality Spiderman numbers to the type that probably cost a few hundred dollars and could ruin a couple cars if not kept up in the air properly) and fly them either for fun or for competition in a large field near the children's Exploration Station. After church on Sunday, we four Cases brought our packed lunch to the park and planted ourselves on a shaded picnic table with an excellent view of the kite proceedings. Sure, the boys were cranky and hungry--Sundays will do that when you are forced to play in a nursery instead of taking your normal morning nap--but it was well worth hearing their "surprise" noise repeated over and over as they spotted more and more kites flying in the air. They enjoyed the kites, their peanut butter sandwiches, and the many dogs that had accompanied their owners to Perry Farm.

Baylor runs to meet the kites,
his brother not far behind.

Jack munches a peanut butter sandwich.

In other Case news, the boys are officially getting bigger. Yes, I know this happens, but they have been wearing the same size in clothing now for several months, so I am always surprised when a onesie is a little snug (as happened last week--it only donned on me after Jack began whimpering as I tried to force it over his head) or some pants become clamdiggers overnight. Now we have to worry about shoes, as the following picture can attest. I bought two pairs of inexpensive sandals at the beginning of the summer, and we haven't worn them too often lately, as the boys actually favor their nice Pediped shoes over all others. For a quick library outing on a summer day, I thought sandals might be appropriate, and after Mom finally squeezed poor Baylor into his too-small sandals, we had to laugh at his attempts to walk.

They are going to seem so big once Charlotte gets here!
