Stephen and I were fortunate enough to be able to spend a night away from our kids this weekend--our first night away since they were born! We stayed at The Magruder House Bed and Breakfast, a local establishment in the historic Riverview District of Kankakee. The owners have done a beautiful restoration job on this late-1800s Victorian home that was built by local store owner and developer Henry Magruder. The home itself has beautiful original woodwork and hardwood flooring, a formal, polished decorating scheme, a large front porch, and even an original leaded glass window. We were really pleased with our stay, our four-course breakfast, and with Scott, our host, who was even so kind as to present us with some potted daisies and a "It's a Girl!" balloon in honor of Charlotte's upcoming arrival. Luckily she didn't come while we were taking this night off and we were able to enjoy a completely baby-free night.
